About the Chef

My name is Kimberly Goldstein and I love to cook!  I’m from San Diego, California, raised by a single mother with a full-time job.  Despite the long work hours, I never had a store-bought birthday cake as a kid.  Homemade by Mom every year!  One of her favorite stories about my childhood involved her walking into the kitchen one Saturday morning to find me standing on a chair at the stove, frying an egg.  I was four at the time.  I’m pretty sure I got in trouble for that, but it was the beginning of my passion for cooking and baking.  By the time I was a teenager, I was reading Good Housekeeping and Ladies Home Journal for the recipes, and preparing dinner just about every night.

After I finished college and got my own place, I started having friends over for dinner and throwing parties that always featured lots of food!  As time went on, I started getting requests to cater other people’s parties, and even a couple of weddings.  I started a little dessert business (What’s For Dessert?) and worked as a personal chef for a while, in additional to a full time office job.  As much as I enjoyed doing that, it went to the back burner when my children were born.  Fast forward to the present, the kids are grown and my job is part time, so the time is right for a new challenge!  Appetizers and desserts have always been my favorite things to cook, as well as eat.  They just seem fun and festive to me.  You can’t be in a bad mood when you’re eating party food!  Okay, I’ll stick to cooking and leave the poetry to the professionals.  I hope you’ll keep me in mind for your catering needs.  I’d love to work with you!
